You’ve got a great smile and you like to flash it whenever you can — but discoloration or minor imperfections are forcing you to be more tight-lipped than you’d like. If you’d like to smile broadly again, lighting up your face with vitality and confidence, veneers are the perfect solution. Not only do veneers whiten your teeth, they also provide the perfect cover-up for those pesky imperfections.
At Broadmoor Dental, under the expert direction of John Goodman, DDS, and Nicolas Pruett, DDS, our team provides clients in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with a wide range of cosmetic, preventive, and restorative dental services. As part of this extensive suite of dental care, we offer dental veneers, which are a great way to get that fabulous smile you’ve dreamed of.
If you’re unhappy with your teeth, here’s how veneers can help.
Dental veneers are wafer-thin shells made from porcelain, ceramic, or composite resin that we place over the fronts of your teeth. These materials not only improve the appearance of your teeth; they’re stain-resistant and strong enough to handle the daily rigors that come with chewing.
While veneers have long been used to transform discolored teeth, they also provide the perfect cover-up for:
- Unevenly worn teeth
- Misshapen teeth
- Small misalignments
- Gaps in your teeth
Veneers can’t correct serious misalignments, but they can accomplish far more than you might have thought possible.
If you opt for veneers, the road to your great smile is fairly simple. During your first appointment, we remove a very small amount of your enamel to make room for the veneers, and then we take impressions of your teeth. Please note that once we remove the enamel, it doesn’t grow back, so you must stick with your decision to get veneers.
Once we take the impressions, we send them off to a lab to custom manufacture your veneers. We not only send the impressions of your teeth, but we also share what your goals are in terms of color and cover-up.
Once your veneers are ready, you return to our office so we can bond them to your teeth and make any necessary adjustments to ensure that they fit together seamlessly.
Taking care of your veneers
One of the benefits of getting veneers is that you take care of them as you would your natural teeth through daily cleaning, flossing, and rinsing. Veneers are tough and can last from 10-20 years, depending upon how well you take care of your teeth.
While the materials in your new dental veneers are often better at resisting stains than your natural enamel, we urge you to steer clear of foods, liquids, and lifestyle habits that lead to discoloration. To preserve your great smile for years to come, avoid things like coffee, tea, red wine, and smoking, which are the main offenders when it comes to staining.
